Question: i am currently being treated for anxiety and depression. My next step is to join a group that deals with that issue. I met with the psychologist for an evaluation to see if i was suitable. The Dr is quite provocing, and due to past abuse by a psychiatrist it is a difficult proses. Anyway during the evalution I was aske if I had been abused and traumatised. I answered incorrectly (lied ) when asked at what age, I said eight, by my brother, I was asked was it months or years, I said months, and that is not true my brother would have me touch his private areas and thats it. I am really upset by this, I have talked about it with my therepist who does not feel that I have intentionly done any thing wrong, but i feel I have and don't know what to d about it.

Brief Answer:
donot lie, reveal the truth.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

You suffer from anxiety and depression. You will be joining a group to deal with it.

You have lied during an interview.

Well, I understand that revealing about abuse in past is difficult.

You might not done it intentionally. But I would suggest you to give correct information to your doctor.

This will help him analyse your situation appropriately.

Also, you will carry the guilt of lying about your past. This might interfer in your recovery process. Rather this guilt may become another reason for anxiety.

You wont be able to concentrate on your therapy sessions if this thought of lying keeps bugging you.

So, sincerely reveal the truth to your doctor. Give him the correct information about your past. You will get better results with your therapy sessions.

Hope this helps you in some way.

Feel free to ask further.

Take care.
Thanks.
