Brief Answer:
knee immobilisation/rest is important

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I have studied your case.

As per your history there is possibility of partial ACL tear, so doctor has advised you to take 3 weeks rest.
Due to rest and knee support there will be healing of torn acl fibres.

If you have to attain office then you can use straight long knee brace or cylinder cast.
You need to consult your treating doctor for using such brace.

If natural healing does not occur due to improper immobilisation/rest then you may need to undergo arthroscopic acl reconstruction later on.
Consulting your doctor you can add tab tendocare for better healing.
Till time continue static quadriceps exercises to strengthen them.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for your valuable reply.

As you know, i am currently using a knee cap and attending office. Do you suggest i go to the doctor and get a cylinder cast done ? I had told the doctor already i had
to attend office.
then why is it that he asked me to wear onlya knee cap.

What would be your advice be,Going back to the doctor i cant ask him to give me a cylinder cast as he already recommended a knee cap.

What would be your advice ?
Also with the knee cap on in my office sitting on a chair, my knee still feels painful. The doctor said 75 percent is torn while 25 percent still holds.

If its paining, does it mean its healing. Would the healing process quicken with a cast on ?

I would really like your advice on what to do.
Thanks,

Brief Answer:
If 75 percent torn you need arthroscopic reconst

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

If it is 75 percent torn you need arthroscopic reconstruction.
If you are sports person/with high demand you need arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with meniscus repair [if it there].
Torn ACL will not heal with just knee cap if you are not taking rest.
Clinical examination and pain and patients expectation decide further management.
Healing may happen with cast on but can not be assured that it will heal 100 percent.
If possible you can consult to my hospital for clinical assessment.

Explained below

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Not moving knee for few weeks will give good healing to torn acl.

Your pain and swelling may reduce, pain on movement will reduce you can climb stairs and squatt easily once healing has occurred.
Do not worry of popping sound if its painless.
