default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jul 2016
Question: Hi
I'm really worried about my condition. I had an abcess on my butt cheek. It was drained and gp said will be fine tomorrow. Unfortunately that GP left and had to see another one. She said drainage wasn't done properly. Made another cut and packed it for one day. It's been month now . everyday dressing is being done. My second GP is gone again bad luck and now after shower when I changed my dressing. Blood came out . I cleaned and put the bandage back. I can see blood spot on it now. Finished three courses of antibiotics.
Please help. It hurts little bit. But why blood from incision . Is it really bad?????

Brief Answer:
extra pressure can cause bleeding as wound is delicate

Detailed Answer:
hello

thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. All the steps you following are very good and hopefully will you smooth recovery. healing wound is very delicate so even a slight extra pressure can result in small amount of bleeding. i would suggest you NOT to worry and carry on with normal daily routine and dressing. As you yourself observed improvement so its a good sign. An important thing to take care is not to touch the wound with dirty hands in any case wash hands before and after touching the wound.
Foods rich in vitamin C (bell peppers, dark leafy greens, kiwifruit, broccoli, berries, citrus fruits, tomatoes & peas), zinc(almonds, cashew, oatmeal, etc) and proteins help in early wound healing.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

But doctor what is hardness around the wound.
And gentle pressing ruptured the closed incision.
A little bit pus I would say one drop and then blood 2-3ml. I m scared of it now.

I'm getting stressed and can't sleep CS of this tension.
I don't know if it's pus mixed with blood or pure blood. But it was red. You mean wound is delicate inside and I shouldn't put pressure on this??
But I could sit on it.only today it bleeded. What is this burning sensation or tingling sensation

Brief Answer:
hardness is normal

Detailed Answer:
hello

thank you for the followup query

Hardness around the wound is the fibrosis and regeneration crust. It is normal to appear and resolves gradually when wound is healed completely.
You need not to scared from this. Although pus is not a good sign because pus indicates non-healing infected wound and needs extra care BUT as it was "little bit" so do not worry.
Yes, wound remains delicate and sometimes even a touch can cause it to bleed slightly. The only thing you need to take care is about pus. If it appears again then you can discuss with your treating doctor to send the sample for culture and sensitivity.

Thank You

Hi doctor
Today again puss came out. I am really really scared now. Had to see another doctor CS my GP is on leave. He said she should have asked you to go hospital and get it done there. We have to open it again bigger put the forcep in. Rotate it inside and clean clean clean.
I'm under depression now. Having suicidal thoughts. Crying a lot. Don't know who is right or wrong.
I'm fed up.
He gave metronidazole again for 7 dayd
Could you tell why it's coming back or it was never gone????

I feel like this world is not worth living.
Is finegoldia Magna a nasty bacteria??
I'm not a vegetable that everyone keep cutting me. I need right treatment. Why I'm living in Australia if doctor can't even cure an abcess.??

Where should I go to seek help. I'm under anxiety

Brief Answer:
Wound infection can be due to multiple causes

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for the followup query.

First of all i would suggest you not to worry. some times wound gets infected and results in delayed wound healing. Most common causes include:

- Antibiotic resistant bacteria
- poor wound care
- superaded infection

If infections gets severe and pus accumulates then surgeon needs to reopen the wound and clean it thoroughly. This could be the reason why your treating doctor asked for re-cleaning the wound. Hopefully it will clear the wound and recovery will be smooth.

Feel free to get back for if you have any query.
Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I'm going to see a surgeon tomorrow. Bit scared.
Could you also guide me for the antibiotic that I'm taking at the moment. It's metronidazole 400mg there times a day for seven days second time.
Does it has to be a exact 8 hour time gap in between doses. I take first one at 8 am second at 2 then third at8 pm. But im confused for the time gap 8pm and then 8am. CS it counts for 12 hours gap.
Please advice
