Brief Answer: Hi Detailed Answer: Dear I have gone through the details of your daughter's problem of allergic bronchitis and adenoids. In such cases along with providing symtomatic relief we aim at increasing the immunity so that defence of the body is raised to prevent recurrent attacks. In ayurveda there are rasayans which perform this task of increasing bodily immunitty. One such combination available is SWAMLA, even chavsnprash is useful but swamla contains ingredients to support upper respiratory tract. A pinch of turmeric added to hot milk is very useful to improve immunity in cases related to upper respiratory tract problems of the patient. prevention from known allergens is must. cold damp places, smoke fumes perfumes to be avoided. Curd sour spicy food and fast food to be avoided. Look for abdominal worms also, some times they are the reason for allergy due to internal factors. As far as medicine is concerned I prefer bresol, septilin and kuka. Given over a longer period help to prevent recurrent attack and cure the disease if proper care is taken from all aspects. wishing you and your family a long healthy life. Dr.Rajesh Lakhanpaul

Thanks for the quick reply. I am due to take Churna from the doctor as it is finished. What is your review of the ingredients of Churna....is it worth to be given to such small kids...If you say I can stop it. Should i also stop Syp Spasma (Charak pharma), Pls confirm. We had given medicine for worms 8 months ago. I also give her warm milk with turmeric in morning but that is not regular, i recently started cow milk rather than packed milk for this purpose. We dont give her any food with preservatives. BĂșt give her Fresh curd which is not sour...is that ok..or that should also not be given. Can she be given sour fruits such as orange, grapes which contains Vitamin C. Right now i am not giving them considering their SOUR status. Tell me dosage/good brand for SWAMLA. (She is 4 years) Also tell me should i need to give Bresol, Septilin and Kuka all three daily, on any one at the time of cough episode only. what would be dosage and period for each. And what is the function of each of these as to my little understanding Kuka and Bresol must be doing same functions.. I apprehend that given the coming summer season, can i give Swamla, Turmeric Milk and Septilin which are considered to have Hot Tasir. Is Steroids such as Budesal/Budecort have long term impacts on kids health ! Allopath doctors deny this , wht's your opinion.

Brief Answer: Welcome Dear Detailed Answer: In reply to your follow up questions I am of opinion that attending doctor is the best judge of the current situation. The selection of ingredients in powder is from amongst commonly used drugs in such cases. Spasma and Bresol have similar action of relieving bronchial spasms that lead to breathing distress or wheezing in chest. In initial phases of treatment there is every possibility of relapse of breathing distress and need for nebulisation can arise but with continued treatment this use will phase out.If Spasma has not given desired results Bresol is worth trying. Use of curd is to be avoided as in ayurved it increases Kaph. Same is case with sour fruits. Seasonal fruits grown in area where you reside and fully ripe sweet in taste can be administered. Use of pinch of turmeric will be beneficial if continued. septilin cures and prevents infection thus creats a healthy state free from bacterial colony. Kuka apart from being mucolytic agent has good effect on tonsilis and adenoids. It helps to reduce adenoids and send them back to normal status. Swamla is just like chavanprash but having some herbs that offer immunity in diseaes of upper respiratory tract infection. The dose for small baby can be half tea spoon. Dosage of the drugs in ayurveda is variable as per age of person and state of disease. Usually one tea spoon of bresol and of septilin twice a day one tablet kuka twice is sufficient but can be varied by the attending doctor. It is always advisable to consult attending doctor on such issues. Use of steroids administered internally irrationally do have adverse effects but in aerosol mode they are minimal and must be used in emergency. Wish you and your family a healthylife Dr. Rajesh Lakhanpaul

Brief Answer: tablets are specific for adenoids and tonsils Detailed Answer: swamla is product of XXXXXXX dhootapapeshwar ltd. As far as kuka syrup is concerned. It is indicated for cough but tablets are specific for adenoids and tonsils . Duration of treatment depends on progress and calls for review after 15 days.

Brief Answer: Dear Detailed Answer: These medicines are not having any laxative ingredient. Even then if your baby is facing lose motions that can be linked to some other factors. you can reduce the dose and watch for frequency of stools and their consistency. Adjust the dose as much she tolerates.
