Brief Answer:
depnding uponlocal laws and patient's conditon treatment should be given

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I can understand your concern for son.

If his condition is so critical that it leads to major severe consequences to his health (either at present or in future), doctor can treat forcefully depending upon local medical laws and doctor's duties.

If he is harmful to himself or others , he can also be treated forcefully with help of police according to local laws.

Consent of parent or first degree relative may be taken for his treatment if he is not in mental condition to give consent for his treatment.

For more comments/help please let me know in detail about his acute stress disorder.

Hope this answer is helpful to you.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
