Brief Answer:
surgeon's referral is advised

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
An abscess in anal region can be a serious issue if it gets infected.
It is draining that means it needs assessment by a surgeon of your locality and most likely will need incision and drainage and antibiotics.
Self treatment or delaying is not advisable.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.

ive been to the hospital and they've given me antibiotics. they didn't do the incision because it had opened and was already draining. they told me it would heal in time. how long does it take to heal?

Brief Answer:
wide mouth drainage still preferred

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Welcome back.
The draining abscesses are called sinuses.
And because that is draining is not a surety that it will lead to healing.
Mostly healing in these cases as faster when external opening is equal or bigger than the internal cavity. It makes sure that pus drains instantly and does not stay there to get infected.
If your wound does not heal in 5-7 days, review to the doctor and request debridement and widening of it's mouth.
I hope the advise will be helpful for you.
