I will be looking forward for the answers to conclude the discussion in the best interest of yours.
Thank You
I have had both upper and lower GI. Four years ago he found a duodenal ulcer.
I was taking medicine and it went away. This pain is not the same. I was doing very well with soup and boiled eggs and non-spicy foods. Yesterday however, I had spicy chili and the pain was very intense.
I think I have an ulcer and am wondering if I should wait a couple of weeks....just eating bland foods and taking Pepcid AC. Or if you think I should see my GI guy immediately.
Thank you, XXXXXXX
Most probably Gastritis/ulcer

Hello
Thank you for getting back with the answers. Probable diagnosis from your symptoms would be Acid Peptic Disease. I would suggest you to get an appointment for your regular gasntroenterologist. Also you would be requiring some medicines which are prescription only meds and you can get easily by visiting him. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:
> Medical Care:
- Omeprazole one daily for 14 days
- sucralfate suspension thrice a day for 10 days
- a baseline ECG to confirm status of heart
- Ultrasound-Abdomen
> General Care:
Medical care can do NOTHING if you donot take general care about your health. Following steps would help you to recover slowly:
- take small frequent meals.
- take 30-45mins walk/exercise daily in the evening. It will make you fresh, healthy and is good for digestion.
- Don't lie down immediately after taking meal
- raise head end of your bed slightly(by an inch)
- Eat a diet rich in fiber, especially from fruits and vegetables
> AVOID:
fatty & oily food.
spices
heavy meals at night
carbonated & caffeine drinks
chocolates
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
