Question: My daughter went to the doctors a week ago because she had been complaining of tummy pain at school 3 days a week for a few weeks. The doctor took a urine sample and said that she did not have a uti but that there were slighty higher white cells in her urine. She said to start my daughter on miralax to soften her stools as they had.been hard. My daighter has not complained of tummy ache since and the doctor called a day after her urine sample to let us know that the sample was still negative. I noticed this morning that her urine is still cloudy. My question is, is cloudy urine normal? Could it be that she's not drinking enough?

Brief Answer:
yes possible because she is not drinking enough water

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
From your description I understand that your doctor has ruled out urinary tract infection.
Cloudy urine is non specific.
It could be present if you don't drink enough water.
Not necessarily mean infection everytime.
I suggest you to continue miralax as per your doctors advice.
Ensure she drinks plenty of liquids.
Wishing your child good health.
Regards
Dr Arun
