Brief Answer:
Information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
A gnawing feeling in the stomach may be due to irritation of the stomach lining (gastiritis). This can come on for a variety of reasons including using NSAIDs, infection, eating something that upset it, and other causes.
Consider taking Zantac 150 mg twice a day for a few days and see if that helps resolve the problem. Zantac is an over the counter medication that blocks some of the acid production so that your stomach can heal.
For now, avoid high acid foods such as citrus and tomatoes. Also avoid peppermint and alcohol.
I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.

I have been diagnosed as having acid reflux in the past could this be my reflux acting up if so what foods reduce reflux thanks for your help
Brief Answer:
Dietary recommendations
Detailed Answer:
Yes, it definitely can be reflux, and Zantac can help that.
Regarding dietary modifications:
Eat smaller amounts at a time, don't eat within 2 hours of going to bed. Avoid acidic foods including citrus (oranges, lemons, pineapple, limes) and tomatoes. Decrease caffeine, chocolate. Eliminate alcohol and if you are a smoker, that would need to be stopped. No NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin). If you find spicy foods make it worse, hold off on that too.
All vegetables are fine, especially if cooked. Fruits (other than citrus) are fine. Sweet potatoes, white potatoes, fish, chicken, turkey, (and usually dairy) are all ok.
