Detailed Answer:
Hello!

I am glad to hear from your again on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that there is no need to perform a new MRI.

Regarding the abdominal aorta aneurysm, I would explain that the abdominal aorta has been examined very well in your last MRI (as it is very visible) and an aneurysm has been excluded.

Anyway, there is no need to perform a new MRI for this purpose. You should know that the abdominal aorta can be examined very well with an abdominal ultrasound. So, you can perform periodically scheduled ultrasounds every 12 months, to be sure that you have a normal size abdominal aorta.

I would also recommend checking your blood lipid profile and thyroid hormone levels every 6 months. This will help slow the progression of atherosclerosis (which is worsened by thyroid dysfunction and dyslipidemia).

The chronic degeneration of the backbone are responsible for the chronic back pain. But, there is not too much to do for the pain. Zoloft can help in this regard (antidepressants can help in chronic back pain). I would also recommend avoiding prolonged standing up or sitting position and weight lifting.Physiotherapy can help against the pain.

I would recommend performing lumbar spine X ray every 6-12 months to examine your spine. A new MRI may be needed if you have new symptoms like gait difficulty, mixture problems or limb numbness.

But as long as you do not have these new symptoms, there is no need to perform a new MRI.

Regarding hiatal hernia, I recommend performing a fibrogastroscopy to exclude this possibility.

So, to conclude I do not see any serious medical condition underlying your symptoms. Just try to relax and do not worry about it!

I would also recommend following your healthy lifestyle, which is essential for a long and healthy life.

Hope you will find this answer helfpul!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
