Suggest Treatment For A Tooth Infection

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Apr 2017
Question: Hi. I had an infected tooth that was diagnosed Friday. I was put on penicillin for the infection, and then had an extraction of the tooth on Monday. Starting this evening my left eye (above the tooth extraction side) has started clouding up. Very red, and am getting a thick ribbon-like discharge. Guessing infection spread to eye and perhaps causing pink eye. I am still on the penicillin through Thursday. Should I go see my Dr. or will the medicine clear the eye eventually?

Brief Answer:
blocked lacrimal gland ducts, ophthalmologist

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the redness and thick discharge from the eyes is concerned, it can be because of the blocked lacrimal gland ducts. Taking only antibiotics will not help. It is not related to tooth infection. So consult an ophthalmologist and get it evaluated. I hope I have answered your query. Kindly upload the images of the eyes where you have redness and discharge so that I can give exact diagnosis and treatment plan.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
it's not tooth related, consult an ophthalmologist

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your reply and uploading the image.
I have gone through the image. As per the image, it does not look like tooth infection related. It might be keratoconjuctivitis. So you need to consult an ophthalmologist and get it evaluated.
I hope I have answered your query. Take care.If you have any queries reply me back.
