Suggest Treatment For A Thyroid Nodule

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Oct 2016
Question: A few weeks ago I had a strange accident. I laid down in a chair and the headrest broke and my head went back and was totally unsupported and now my trachea is sore all the time. I had a thyroid ultrasound and there is a small nodule, tiny and they said it is nothing to worry about as for cancer. Is there anything I can do for a pulled or strained trachea?

Brief Answer:
Please request xray cervical spine if there is neck discomfort

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Sorry to know about your injury and hope it is not hurting much.

The thyroid nodule is visualized in many people and not a problem.

Regarding the discomfort in your neck region, please discuss with your doctor and request a xray cervical spine AP and lateral views. This should show if you have any mild degenerative changes and if the fall caused any significant problems in your neck spine.

If any problem is found then a suitable treatment can be recommended to you. Please avoid sudden neck movements and discuss if you require to use a collar for some days. You can try applying a muscle relaxant ointment or spray over the hurting area. In most people a short duration physiotherapy might bring about substantial pain relief.

Hope your query is answered.
