Question: I have a hard small bump on my left mastoid bone and the occipital lymph nodes on that side are palpable. I just thought the bump was nothing until I had an upper respiratory virus that was long lasting and the doctor ordered prednisone which made all of them go back to normal but after about 4 weeks they came back. I struggle with allergies and take singular daily. Sometimes my ears feel full but that is usually when I run. I have an appointment with am ENT but can't get in for a couple weeks and I get anxious. What are your thoughts?

Thank you. I am just baffled as to why the nodes on that side always seem to be fighting something and my only symptoms are allergies. I am glad that you do not think it is anything to worry about. Can you tell me why the prednisone would make it go back to normal and it would come back? I think I just worry because of my age. I feel fine. I am glad to hear about the allergies and running with my ear blockage. Sometimes it is fine and other times I experience more problems with it. Is it not unusual for people to have nodes that are palpable. Every time I read up on it, I wonder if I should do something more about it. It always states if you are older you should be more concerned. If you notice I am always writing on here about lymph nodes. I get to stressing every now and then. I have checked my groin, armpits and around by collarbone and I am not able to feel any of those nodes. Just trying to understand why and I guess sometimes there is no really good reason.
