Suggest Treatment For IBS And Pain During Bowel Movement

default
Posted on Thu, 1 Oct 2015
Question: I've suffered with what has been called IBs for 16 years, I get very few solid motions.

Is there a way I can test the types of foods that could be hurting me without having to use the eat and see method. I can eat icecream one day with no impact for example and then the next time I get painful motions.

I've had all the tests and everything comes back negative but something is going wrong somewhere, seems to be sugar. Milk. Cheese, spices oils, breads, fizzy drinks, caffeine

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking.

I read carefully all your concerns and I understood your queries.
You are reporting to have not solid stools, IBS and related this I can say as follow:

1. You are reporting that some foods like sugar, milk etc may trigger your symptoms. It can be related with food sensitivity. It means that your body don't have enough enzymes to digest these foods. The most common cause of food intolerance is lactase deficiency.
This is why I recommend to do one of the following tests to confirm or rule out the lactose intolerance:
-Hydrogen Breath Test
-Lactose Tolerance Test

2. If you were my patient I would also recommend to do also the following examinations:
- upper endoscopy with biopsy in D3
- Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies (tTG-IgA)
to rule out / confirm celiac disease.

Till you do the above mentioned test you shouldn't do any diet changes , it may misdiagnose your disease.

Wish you all the best
