The diagnosis is based on other behavioural manifestation which have been present for more than 6 months. These include
INATTENTIVE BEHAVIOR
1. Early distraction by external stimulus
2. Often makes careless mistakes in school work or other activities
3. Often has difficulty in sustaining attention in task or play
4. Often forgetful in daily activities
5. Does not seem to listen to what is being said to him
6. Often fails to finish schoolwork
7. Daydreams
HYPERACTIVE BEHAVIOR
1. Runs or climbs excessively in situations where it is inappropriate
2. Fidgets with hands and feet
3. Talks nonstop
4. Has trouble sitting still during dinner, school or story time
5. Difficulty in doing quite task
IMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR
1. Has difficulty awaiting turns in games or group situations
2. Blurts out answers to questions
3. Often interrupts conversation of others
If many of these criteria are there it clinches the diagnoses.
I would suggest you to consult with your Pediatrician for further clinical assessment and management.
