Question: i have jaundice ,my total billirubin level is 6.4..what care should be taken and can i smoke cigarettes?

Welcome to healthcare magic. Thank you for posting your query. I have gone through your post in details. I can understand your concern.

I would suggest you to
1. Take a soft bland diet.
2. Avoid constipation. I would start syrup lactulose to soften your stool.
3. Go for an ultrasound of the abdomen.
4. Get a blood test for Haemoglobin, Anti HAV, anti HCV, anti HEV and HBsAg
5. I would also start tablet pantoprazole and domperidone . Your doctor can guide you on the exact dosage.

Points 3 and 4 can be useful to find out the cause of the jaundice . Is it due to gallstone or due to hepatitis .

Do not worry. With proper treatment and investigation , it can be cured.
