Brief Answer:
Proper medication for diabetes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking Health care magic forum
I have gone through your query. The first medication given for you is glimepride plus metformin (glimestar M1). Now glimepride which is a sulfonylurea is not recommended by most of doctors.Instead of that will give DPP4 inhibitors like Vildagliptin which is the content of your second prescribed drug Glavus met (Metformin and Vildagliptin). Metformin therapy has so many advantages and increase life span of Diabetic patients. It is contraindicated if there is kidney problems. It is safe to take the combination as your sugar level is high.Metformin in heavy doses is given for heavy weight people. You are given the normal dose. You should have a regular follow up with your doctor.
But considering your young age if your sugar level is not getting controlled well you can discuss with your doctor to start insulin therapy which will make you better. If your diabetes is properly controlled there wont be any problem with your sexual life. There wont be any problems for your kids.
Hope this may help you.Let me know if you have any follow up or further query.
I am happy to help you. Thanks

Duration of therapy for Diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your follow up query.
Medications for diabetes should be taken life long.If your sugar level is getting controlled by Glavus Met then it should be continued. If you stop after normalizing then again your sugar level will increase.
You should have a follow up with your doctor regularly.I usually give follow up for my patients whose sugar level are controlled, monthly once.
Hope this may help you.Let me know if you have any further queries.
I am happy to help you.Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Proper therapy for diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your follow up query.

If you were my patient i don't recommend the change to sulphonylurea (Glimepride2mg(ziglim)) again. Your sugar may be getting controlled with that now but for long term outcome it is not good.

Considering your young age it is better to go with Vildagliptin. The dose of vildagliptin and metformin can be increased also.Another drug like thiazolidinediones also can be added to it instead of sulfonylurea.

Your HbA1c and total cholesterol also should be checked. By my personal opinion i don't recommend to discontinue and go to ayurvedic treatment as i have seen a lot of patients who goes like that and come back with a high blood sugar. If your sugar level is not controlled with this then i recommend you to go for insulin therapy after discussing with your doctor which is safe.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
I am happy to help you. Thanks.
