Question: Hi, I would like to have information on the intake of Protein?

I have grade 1 fatty liver with high tg around 302 unit. At this stage i am taking Rosuvastatin + Fenofibrate, Ulyses 150 & Alcoliv.

I was a heavy drinker earlier.

In order to stop drinking I have joined Gymnastic. Running, cycling and also little weight lifting.

I have got interest in making muscle.

Can I take supplement like Protein Powder.

I have heard about Amway Nutrilite All Plant Protein, whether it is safe in my case.

At this stage I am taking B - Protin of British Biologist. Whether it is safe to take.

Also I am taking CQ10 Enzyme.

Please inform me, else from above can I take anything else.

Thanking you.

Brief Answer:
Protein supplements and other issues

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Daily recommended protein intake is 1G /kg of body weight per day; minimum is 40 G/day with high proportion of essential amino acids or a high biological value.
Various protein supplements are available in the market.Since these are food products theses are not under FDA and is available as OTC (over the counter )products.
Amway Nutrilite All Plant Protein (10 grams of protein in one 12.5-gram serving) or B - Protin of British Biologist are equally good and effective .Any of these protein products can be taken safely as supplements.
CoQ10 is not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of any medical condition. It is sold as a dietary supplement. It is essentially an antioxidant and does not have much of side effects. It may help you as CoQ10 enzyme functions in every cell of the body to synthesize energy.
Continue Rosuvastatin + Fenofibrate for hyperlipidaemia.
Ulyses 150 & Alcoliv have doubtful efficacy.

Brief Answer:
Protein supplements and other issues

Detailed Answer:
Both protein supplement products, Amway Nutrilite All Plant Protein and B - Protein of British Biologist ,you mentioned contains all the essential Amino acids ,Antioxidants and essential Vitamins and Minerals and fat content is low.

You can take regular protein supplements along with regular exercises, both aerobic as well as weight training exercises as per your tolerance. which will help in body building.
I won't recommend any kind of steroid including male sex steroid as exogenous steroids, which will have many side-effects. do get back to me if you have further queries.

Brief Answer:
Protein supplements and other issues

Detailed Answer:
Nutrigain is an Ayurvedic product and contains herbs which stimulate appetite and indirectly helps in gaining body weight. It does not contain essential amino acids and other minerals and vitamins. At least It does not specify the ingredients and quantity. Hence it has doubtful efficacy and is not recommended.

Enduramass is another OTC product.Ingredients: Whole Milk, Skimmed Milk, Maltos Dextrine, Soy proteins, Sucrose, Minerals, Vitamins, Approved Flavours and Preservatives. However it contains lot of fats in the form of Saturated Fat     2.46 g,Polyunsaturated Fat     0.32 g & Monounsaturated Fat     1.72 g.
It is not recommended for you as your Triglyceride level is quite high (302 mg/dl)and also you are having fatty liver.
