Question: Are there reliable test to find leaky gut?
I have autoimmune skin condition, some acne, and stress.
I want to address possible leaky gut. I read a leaky gut can lead to much of that and cause autoimmune to go crazy - by solving leaky gut it would cure the autoimmune response.

Tell me what to do here.

Brief Answer:
CAT scan

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I understand your concern and will try to guide you through the same. Initial workup which we start for intestinal perforation is with Erect radiographs and Ultrasonography of abdomen. Left lateral decubitus radiograph has been shown to be more sensitive for leaky gut.

Alongwith it you should also go for a blood workup showing the percentages of all types of cells in your body which adds to the diagnosis.

In case of acute andominal pain and no negative radiographs report, an emergency laparoscopy is done. Laparoscopy may significantly improve surgical decision making in patients with acute abdominal pain, particularly when the need for operation is uncertain.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,

Thanks for writing back!

I apologize that I misunderstood leaky gut as intestinal perforation.Leaky gut generally doesnot need surgery until any major issue.Since you have no bloating, stomach aches, gas cramps, there are less likely chances of leaky gut.

For now I would suggest you to take bland diet and observe.Starting probiotics might help but some people also get bloating for few days after starting probiotics.Just drink lots of water and have a good sleep.

Thanks!
