Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for the query.

Your daughter's cough may be from viral infection or allergy cause.

It might be better if you can provide the following information:
1. Is she a known wheezer and has received medicines like levolin before?
2. Does she have fever?
3. Does she have running nose?

For running nose you can give her antihistamine syrup like cetrizine. And for cough with wheezing some syrup containing salbutamol should be helpful. As these are prescription drugs and the dose of medications varies according to individuals, you need to show her to the nearest pediatrician, get the child examined whether there is wheezing and then give medicines.

There will be no need for antibiotics at this stage.

Cough syrup as such has no value in children unless other associated symptoms co-exist.

In the interim, give her steam inhalations to liquefy the phlegm. And give her little more fluids than what she drinks normally.

Hope this suffices. Let me know if you have any other concerns.

All the best and God bless!!

Hi again,
You can then give her only anti histamine syrup like cetrizine.
When there is phlegm you can not give cough syrup with cough suppressing effect.
Please get the child checked for wheezing also
Steam inhalation will also help
All the best
