Suggest Remedy For Yellowish Green Discharge After Urination
Question: I'm a 51 years old male, I've been taken antibiotics for a while, I've noticed some improvement, however, the burning feeling is still there! I've also noticed a couple of times some yellowish green discharge after urinating when I squeeze the pennies to remove the urine remains. A recent ultrasonic scan showed that the prostate is mildly enlarged in size with inhomogeneous echotexture with approximately 12x11x10mm sized cyst. The prostate measures 37cc by volume. Transverse prostatic diameter measures 5.3cm. The impression is that I have a mild prostatomegaly with small prostatic cyst. Can I have your opinion regarding this condition please? Thanks

Treatment consists in using antibiotics for long to eradicate the infection. Sincerely, it would be a difficult infection to treat and you may need antibiotics for as many as 6weeks. If response is not god enough, I will suggest you get cultures and antibiotics sensitivities done to identify the germ and what exact antibiotic is required.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I've been advised that no extra charge will apply until the 5th March! Please advise me otherwise.
I just need some further clarification.
Test analysis indicated the presence E.Coli, so I had Norofloxacin for two weeks, however, the burning feeling came back after two weeks, a second test result showed the presence of E.Coli again, and now I've been taking the same medication for three weeks, still got tablets for one more week.
Can you please advise what type of prostatitis I have?
Do I need to take more antibiotic, i.e. 6 weeks treatment?
Will the cyst go/disappear using the antibiotics?

You probably have chronic bacterial prostatitis.
This condition is difficult to treat and it takes long. The difficulty is that most antibiotics do not penetrate this gland. You would need to take the drugs for long and follow up with your doctor. In extreme cases, you may require surgery to take off the gland if the infection cannot be controlled with drugs. This is however the last option and we are no where close to that at this time.

Based on the sensitivity test, Norofloxacin appeared to be the most efficient antibiotic, not sure how would we know whether it penetrates the prostate gland? what can be done to improve the penetration, i.e. hot sits baths? exercise to promote blood recirculation in that specific area? drink specific juices such as cranberry? etc.
Also, as mentioned earlier, I've been referred to a urologist and I'm expecting further investigation to be done which may involve taking a biopsy from the gland, some kind of scop through the urethra, etc. Do I need to go through all of that? Finally, How many courses of the antibiotic should I take? I've taken 3 courses so far and I'm feeling some improvement. Do you recommend another antibiotic?

For some reason I've started experiencing some low back pain, I know this could result from the prostatitis, however, I don't have the burning feeling anymore and my urine stream has also significantly improved (straight line), the frequency of urinating is normal and no pain in the urethra? I'm still taking antibiotics?
