Suggest Remedy For Swollen And Sore Nasal Bridge

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: Greetings! Three days ago I woke up with an extremely sore nasal bridge. Pain was akin to cystic acne pain. Very sore to touch and with facial movement. But no bump under skin. Now whole area is swollen from nasal bridge halfway up forehead and then off to the right, including eye and cheek. Pain still localized to bridge of nose and right eye, specifically brow bone and under it. Weird, huh. History for open angle glaucoma and sinus bone graft surgery in preparation for tooth implants. One month ago. Have never had this before and would like to know how to treat it. Thanks for all your help!

Brief Answer:
Cellulitis of the face. Visit the ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. From your description this seems to be Cellulitis of the face.

2. Get an examination done at a nearby ER. This will require treatment to prevent further spread.

3. The source seems to be the bone graft or sinusitis secondary to this procedure. Get your bblood sugar levels and blood parameters checked.

4. This will be best treated with iv medication on indoor admission. I would recommend early treatment.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Thank you so so much for your thorough answer! I trust your advice. I'm just wondering why the ER and not urgent care w/oral antibiotics. What necessitates the urgency of treatment?

Brief Answer:
This cellulitis can spread very fast. Hence the urgency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. There is no indication as to the deeper extent of this inflammation and infection into the sinuses, nose, oral cavity, neck and airway.

2. Cellulitis of the face is not to be taken lightly as the causative organism is unknown as of now. Some organisms can spread rapidly into the bloodstream and brain.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
