Question: Hi, yesterday I had two wisdom teeth taken out. The top came right out and the bottom not so easy. It was terrible it kept breaking and he also kept breaking drill bits. It took over an hour to get it out. He only prescribed 800mg Motrin. My main concern is I tossed and turned all night in pain. Today my legs ache so bad I'm ready to cry!!!! Also when I did my warm salt water rinse a piece of one of the drill bits came out of the whole. I'm scared there might be more in there.

Please, be relaxed and we would monitor and understand more!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain and the bits of tooth that you discovered this morning. No one would love to go back to a dentist table for further exploration and that is why you are worried. I would be worried as well. However, we don’t have sufficient information at this time to think we would need to go back for further exploration. If you fail to improve, we would do an X-ray to see if some of the bottom parts of the tooth are there and whether there is need for further management or not. For now, these bits were most likely in the mouth as rinsing the mouth alone would not be able to penetrate deep enough to dislodge any possible remains of the tooth.

Motrin seems a week medication for 2 extracted tooth. I would have expected a more potent drug. For now, I will recommend you add tylenol at doses recommended by your pharmacist every 6-8hours to address this pain. When both medications are taken together, they are more potent and better at controlling pains.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
Though not normal, it is not unexpected give the recent surgery!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks.

This is not normal but a common observation. The body has been adapting to the drugs and the pain you are going through. It is also very difficult to talk about being calm and feeling comfortable when you are in such an amount of pain. With more pain control, am confident all would be okay.

Hope this helps. Let me know if there is more I can do for you at this time.
