Suggest Remedy For Restless Leg Syndrome

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Oct 2015
Question: I have a restless shoulder (right) joint that gets worse at night. By restless I mean I feel the need to move and stretch it out and no matter how and how long I stretch and move around no relief. I have not slept well in 3 days because of it. Going crazy, got any idea what could be wrong, or an idea on how to relieve it? Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
need some more details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

You have restless shoulder and are unable to sleep because of it.

Can you provide some details about your problem like:
Is it only from last 3 days or longer?
Do you have similar sensation in legs, arms or another body parts?
Are you currently taking any medicines previously?
Do you have pain or swelling in shoulder and neck or upper back?
Does moving shoulder gives some relief as compared to when shoulders are still?

There are some possibilities which I could think off like restless arm syndrome, muscle spasm, rotator cuff tear or some ligament pull.

I would suggest you to go for ultrasound of shoulder to rule out any tear or pull.

Non-drug treatments include shoulder massages, hot baths, heating pads at night.

Waiting for your reply with some more details.

Regards.

I have had it for a few years now, off and on and it sometimes occurs in both legs but it's the most powerful in the right shoulder. moving only provides relief for a few seconds, keeping it still makes it feel restless. I do not see any swelling present.

Brief Answer:
may be a part of restless leg syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Thanks for the details.
Sorry for replying late.

I think this is the part of restless leg syndrome (RLS).

RLS is a generic term. The symptoms of restlessness can occur in any part of body including arms, legs, torso etc.

In such cases, drugs like pramipexole (prescription drug) can help.

Sometimes, iron deficiency and impaired kidney functions can be a cause.
I would suggest you to kibdly go for complete blood count and renal function tests.

Please consult your physician for further management.

Hope this helps.
I wish you well.
Thanks.
