Suggest Remedy For Redness And Bumps On Lower Eye Lids

Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015
Question: In the middle of March I developed a chalazion on my top right eye lid. I was treated with an anti bacterial antiobiotic, steroid drops for the lids, ointments for the lids & steroid shots into the chalazion. I developed another chalazion on my top left eyelid. I have been doing hot packs, cleaning the inner lids & the top lids on both eyes and am now on Lotemax. Both eyes have been getting better. On Thursday I woke and my right eye hurt. I thought my eye was dried out, I use an ointment @ night to keep my eyes moist as I have dry eyes. I put some FML S.O.P. 0.1% ointment in the eye and it finally quit hurting about 5 pm.
Friday I followed the treatment for the chalazions and when I did the same thing at noon, I had a red bump on my lower lid which hurt when I cleaned iit and my eye is red. I have continued to use the FML and am scheduled to see my doctor on Monday. In the mean time I would like to see if any of you can provide any information on this issue. Thank you, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Please provide further info.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir

I interpreted your concern.

Could you please let me know which eye's lower lid showed the red bump- Right or the left eye?

Is there any pus collection in the involved eye?

I can guide you further once I receive your answers.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Recurrent Chalazia-Need biopsy

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

You possibly seem to have a recurrent chalazion.

The lower lid bump on the right eye is possibly a stye as it is painful.

But chalazia can cause stye and vice versa.

Continue with the currently prescribed medications.

Usually, surgical removal of the chalazion is indicated in your case, as it seems not to respond completely to the medical management.

Also, I advise you to get a biopsy of the chalazion, since it is always warranted in cases of recurring chalazia in the elderly age group to rule out malignancy.

Additionally screen yourself your diabetes. This can provoke a recurrence of chalazia in elderly age groups.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
