Question: I took Benicar 20mg over 2 months ago and I had heartburn so bad ,my doctor gave me try dexilant 60mg for my heartburn ,first 3 weeks I feel ok but 3 days ago I feel a little bit chest pain and my heart beat faster and I'm stop taking it today then I feel better also 1 month ago he gave me clonazepam 0.5mg for my anxiety because I have been struggled with H/P side effect 3 times very bad,it took me over 4 months for adjust my medication. I still don't know why i get anxiety because it from Benicar side effect or I worry too much from H/P too bad over 4 months and I get it?
Would you please let me know how I can take care it and back to normal?
Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Need evaluation for tachycardia, no worries for acid reflux/ heartburn

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Heart burn pyrosis might be separate entity or a sequelae of these medications but later is less likely and rare. Dexilant is enough and good proton pump inhibitor but you need to modify diet and lifestyle completely to manage GERD symptoms like losing weight, regular exercise, eating small frequent meals, avoiding spices, alcohol, sweets like chocolates, delaying lying down after meal and keeping the head side of the bed elevated.

Now faster heart beat with history of hypertension should be assessed always with an ekg, echo and cardiac studies and then label as anxiety. As hypertension itself is the increased work load on heart and that makes it beat faster. So get to a doctor let them assess the cardiac functions and then decide what is best for you. If its anxiety then clonazepam is already taking care of that.

I hope it helps. Take care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
