Brief Answer:
Can be due to arthritic changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the right middle finger that you have can be due to arthritic changes in the joints due to the trigger finger.
Mild inflammation may also be there. Ice causes numbness and decreases inflammation in the area thus brings the relief. You can take a mild pain killer and do an alternate hot and cold compress for a better relief. Local steroid injections can help for short term. Oral steroids may be needed in case the pain is severe and persistent. Local analgesic ointment can also help.
I hope this answers your query.
