Question: I recently purchased a treadmill and I need to consult a doctor to understand the dos and donts about running.

I am aiming to run 5k everyday. This is my track record.

Date -- Minutes / Kilometers
-----------------------------
8/Mar/2015 -- 10 minutes / 1 kilometer
9/3 -- 10 / 1.25
10/3 -- 12 / 1.5
11/3 -- 15 / 2
12/3 -- 17 / 2
16/3 -- 17 / 2
17/3 -- 18.5 / 2.5
18/3 -- 16 / 2
19/3 -- 18 / 2.5
20/3 -- 15 / 2.1
24/3 -- 17.5 / 2.5
25/3 -- 20 / 2.8
29/3 -- 15 / 2.1
30/3 -- 18 / 2.7

1/4 -- 12 / 1.5
6/4 -- 6 / 1
7/4 -- 15 / 1.7
8/4 -- 27 / 3.5
9/4 -- 30 / 3.8
10/4 -- 30 / 3.8
14/4 -- 30 / 3.9
15/4 -- 27 / 3.6
16/4 -- 30 / 3.9
18/4 -- 30 / 3.8

I look straight, keep my back straight and put the entire foot on the belt while running, i dont stomp. I do few stretches before and after running.

I sometimes get a little pain in my lower leg (calf muscles). I take breaks when in pain.

Please advice for any dos and donts about running. My aim is to run 5k everyday and keep running faster.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
You are doing just fine.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HealthCare Magic. Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.

I have gone through the entire post.
What I can make out is that Your current pace is around 7.5 Km/hr . That is good enough. You can increase it upto 8-9 Km/hr.
What is more important is to stick to a routine and maintain regularity.

Your method of running , the procedures are all correct.
Continue with the stretches before and after running
Whenever you feel painin the legs or calf muscles , stop running. If you do get injured , it will disrupt the daily routine.

Do not worry.
You are doing absolutely fine.
All the best.
Regards.
