default
Posted on Fri, 1 May 2015
Question: Last Wed April 7 2015 I broke my toe next to the little one when I tripped on the sidewalk.
The toe was purple and swollen. Applied ice and have been taking Ibuprofen every 6-8 hr. and keeping it elevated as much as possible,
Now its pink and less swollen but continues to hurt.
Have to go back to school tomorrow and walk long distances over campus.
Should I cont to apply ice and take the Ibuprofen? Should I now apply heat? Any suggestions please.

Brief Answer:
heat now. Continue ibuprofen. go to school

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and I understand your concern. tripping of toe during side walk is a really painful condition and needs slight rest and analgesics for the relief.

Applying ice is just for initial stages to prevent the inflammation and swelling. After that roughly 24 hours applying heat is better.

You may go to school tomorrow. Just apply some topical painkiller cream and use some band aid or crip bandage. That will keep it warm. Walk as much as comfortable. Keep elevating the limb when ever possible. Taking ibuprofen is wise and should be continued. You may take 3 to 4 ibuprofen daily with no worries.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
