Suggest Remedy For Nausea, Gastritis And Hernia

Posted on Fri, 9 Jan 2015
Question: I've been experiencing a symptoms of nausea, feeling full after a few mouthfuls (but no loss of appetite), tightness and a sensation of a lump in my throat for the past 6 months. There is no pain. The symptoms are always worse during/after eating, they usually feel better when my stomach is empty. Also I've found the symptoms are worse after breakfast in the morning, and when I sit down to eat - when I stand up to eat they are often much better. The sensation of tightness/fullness is definitely worse when I sit down.

My GP prescribed PPIs for most of this time, they seem to help with the nausea a little. I've also been on ondansetron which also helps somewhat.

I've had an abdominal ultra sound and an endoscopy which both came back relatively normal - I have some varicose veins on my liver and some mild gastritis, but I had a few drinks the night before the endoscopy which was probably the cause. The nurse said there was no hiatal hernia, which is what I thought it was. What else could these symptoms be? What tests should I have now?

Before the symptoms started I had some gastroenteritis. About the same time I also had a nasty fall from my bike, though didn't notice that I'd injured my stomach in any way.

Brief Answer:
Domperidone to be used;;....acid reflux suspeted...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Before running into final conclusions, I'd like to have the reports of tests you did previously.

From what you are describing, my thoughts go for possible acid reflux rather from hiatal hernia. Usully hial hernia is not associated with the symptoms you are feeling.

I advise to:
- continue treatment with PPIs,
- start taking Domperidone in order to ease stomach emptiness....
- be careful with foods you consume: avoid those would trigger your problems

Hope it was of help!
