Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query.

Hope you have got done the investigations suggested earlier. As per the pigmentation, I would like to know when you have developed it and if there are any associated symptoms like spread, itching, burning sensation and discharge. Also, if you have seen a dermatologist for this complaint, please let me know what the outcome was.

Coming to the relation of pigmentation and irregular periods, it can happen in hormone disorders like PCOD and adrenal disorders. Sometimes, pigmentation is found in the latter half of a normal menstrual cycle. Chloasma or pigmentation of the face is observed in pregnancy. Further evaluation is necessary to establish the relation.

In case of PCOD, pigmentation is mostly observed in the groin, underarm and back of the neck and rarely on the face. Since you have already been diagnosed with ovarian cysts, this seems to be the more likely cause.

Further management can be planned if the exact cause for the pigmentation can be established. This can be done through clinical examination, blood tests and skin biopsies, if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Brief Answer:
Please upload reports and pictures, if any.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Please upload your reports here and also a picture of the patches, if possible. If the patches keep on coming up even after treatment, this only means the root cause has not been cured.

If it is only allergy, you should identify the trigger factor and avoid it. Slow de-sensitization is another mode of treatment for allergies. Here, there is a low-dose exposure to the trigger factor given to help the body get less reactive each time.

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies as the cause of the pigmentation also should be excluded. Hormonal imbalances should be corrected. Sun-exposure and allergy to U-V radiation should also be excluded. A biopsy of the affected part also can help and this is left to the discretion of the attending dermatologist.

Please maintain healthy nutrition, regular exercise and healthy weight. Get treatment to correct your periods. There is a likelihood that the skin pigmentation will also be cured simultaneously. Use of natural face packs can also help. Please also consult a cosmetologist for help.

Hope I have answered your query. Please get back if you need any more information. I will be ready to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of breakthrough bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing again.

The mechanism of action of herbal products cannot be supported experimentally, hence I cannot comment on their efficacy. Yet, some of them are used in regular practice with decent results.

If you are spotting, it is likely that you may have gone for some breakthrough bleeding and you need to see a gynecologist for further appraisal of the situation and to see if you need any hormonal support.

Hope your queries have been answered. Please contact if you need any more help. I will be glad to do so.

regards,
Shanti.V.
