Question: I'm 28 years old with a history of removal of polyps of the vocal cords. Last week I had a terrible hey fever, coughing out greenish sputum and I was given the antibiotics and something for allergy and a cough mixture. To my XXXXXXX my voice was getting before developing this cough, so now I'm back to square one my voice is terribly hoarse but I'm not experiencing any pains yet but I'm just worried that the cough has disturbed the healing process of the OP I did in February this year....thank you

Brief Answer:
Your vocal cords must have healed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
If you were operated in February, your vocal cords must have healed by now. The change in voice could be due to your respiratory infection and cough. This could have caused vocal cord edema leading to voice change.
I recommend the following.
1) Complete the antibiotic course.
2) Expectorant cough syrup.
3) Drink plenty of water to hydrate the mucosa.
4) Voice rest: To promote healing of vocal trauma that could have occurred due to cough and infective process.
5) Avoid smoking. If are not a smoker, kindly ignore this suggestion.
You will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
