Xanax is a very dangerous medication, especially in your age group, as it causes oversedation, cognitive slowing,memory loss, risk of falls and fracture, and addiction and withdrawal. SSRI antidepressants treat anxiety better and have none of these side effects. I would ask your prescriber to consider starting one.
