Suggest Remedy For Headaches And Tenderness In Head After A Fight

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Feb 2015
Question: Hi, this probably sounds ridiculous but during a play fight my boyfriend and I locked heads and pushed as hard hard as we could (in a sort of head fight) I felt fine afterwards (my forehead felt a bit tender) but the next day a woke up with a headache that hung around all day, it's now the second day after the 'head fight' and I still have a headache but otherwise feel okay. Is it possible this has caused dangerous damage? I will be abstaining from head fights from now on..
Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is possible that the injury has caused something serious.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, it is possible to cause some brain bleeding or brain contusion in that way. Unfortunately brain is closed in skull. This makes it really hard to examine without proper tests. There are several symptoms of brain compression due to bleeding, but in many cases this symptoms appear in a late stage. This symptoms are: headache, nausea, vomiting, light hypersensitivity, dizziness.
Please note that headache can be the only symptom of bleeding. Also bleeding can appear even few weeks after an injury. You also never know how will your brain veins act during head injury. It is very individual. Some can have weak blood vessels walls and minor injury can cause bleeding.

So in conclusion, it would be safer for you to consult neurologist. Described by you injury could cause something more serious than just a bruise.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
