Question: Dear Doctor, I am an interfering grandmother but this is urgent, I do not know how to save my grandson at 16 yoa. I thought he was depressed, he's a walking zombie, but now his mother confides that he's into drugs. He walks around the house saying under his breath "I have to leave here, I have to get away from this town" I have no experience with drugs so the truth behind this behavior never crossed my mind. Now I have been told he has no money, and he's been selling his mother's possessions, where is it all going to lead? My grandson's sister is a best friend to a camp that handles this kind of problem, in Tennessee, and I am waiting to hear from them. But what if he took the heroin that is so lethal, in the meanwhile? I do not know how to keep him alive and safe until we get him admitted. Needless to say, I cannot sleep for worry.

Please tell me if this is a one-time payment, I do not need to be paying it every month. I just want my grandson safe until I get him into detox of some kind.

Brief Answer:
Urgent professional services of a Psychiatrist or De-addiction cetre needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for asking your query here.
I can understand how much it pains when someone so close gets spoiled by the addiction of drugs. These drugs are very dangerous to physical and mental health. The abuser becomes helpless due to strong craving and serious withdrawal effects. Apparently your grandson is not able to quit because of it. The only way to help him is to get him treated thoroughly by a psychiatrist or de-addiction centre. At home detoxification is dangerous due to serious withdrawal discomfort.

So, I advise you to consult a psychiatrist or nearby de-addiction centre. It is much needed and this step can bring him back in life.

Hope you understand.
I wish him a drug free life.
