Question: Hi, I have had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago. Is it possible to ever have a waist again? My midsection is short and thick.

Brief Answer:
hysterectomy is not related to weight gain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
Well hysterectomy is no way related to weight gain or deposition of fat in the mid pelvic region. As it was 5 years back , i am sure abdominal toning exercises, a well charted balanced diet and hydrotherapy can bring your waistline to your desired size.
Regards

Brief Answer:
its a myth

Detailed Answer:
There are a lot of myths floating around regarding hysterectomy per se. As you have one ovary intact, so the necessary oestrogen required is being manufactured by that ovary preventing surgical menopausal symptoms.
Pelvis cannot become short as bony pelvis is touched during the surgery. Weight gain is often seen during post op period when women tend to rest longer to recoup and take to daily chores late and as popularly prevalent that eating food and supplements would cure the wound sooner, so invariably excess fat deposition occurs and further when they don't exercise, especially in women the fat deposition occurs in thighs, waist and buttock region.
So one needs to be informed.
