default
Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: i had a sore throat on right side for 2 days, then this morning looked inside and see a dark purple lump, like an absess under my right tonsil. there is some redness on that side and it hurts to touch. it is in the location where I normally get small white tonsil stones. I have recently had oral sex with a new partner twice in the days before noticing the absess.

Brief Answer:
Seems peritonsillar abscess

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I understand your concern here

This sounds like a peritonsillar abscess and you'll need antibiotics for it like amoxicillin.

If by oral sex you mean your performing it on your partner, if the partner had gonorrhea or chlamydia that can cause a pharyngitis but I think the chances for your having those is very, very low.

You need to see a doctor for an exam, cultures, and appropriate antibiotics.

Let me know if you need any more information please.
