Question: During a routine root canal my dentist hit something that made me jump and cry the rest of the procedure. I have had problems ever since any ideas what caused this?

The pain was during the root removal or right after. He hit something with a sharp object and was like no other pain I ever had.

Brief Answer:
instrument hitting the nerve, medication

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the pain during root canal treatment is concerned, I have the following possibility. The instrument used to clean the canal (files) when it reaches the root tip, it hits the nerve, at thy point you will get pain. But this is transient, that will come down once the root treatment is completed. Nothing to worry, take a course of antbiotics like amoxicillin and metronidazole(if you are not allergic). Take analgesics like diclofenac for the pain. Do saline gargling. You will be fine in 3 days.
I hope I have answered your query. If any queries are there then reply me back.
Take care.
