Brief Answer:
would depend on the cause for the increase

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are different causes for increases in the liver enzymes AST and ALT.

So treatment would depend on the exact cause for the elevation.

Causes include: (A) infection- hepatitis. With viral infection, sometimes no specific viral treatment is needed, only fluids and rest and pain medication as needed

(B)Alcohol liver disease- in this case, decreasing alcohol use significantly would help. After three to six months, the tests can be repeated

(C)trauma

(D)Non alcoholic liver disease- this is inflammation and damage of the liver due to build up of fat from poor diet and decrease exercise.

A diet high in carbohydrates causes build up of fat in liver. The carbs are converted to fat and stored.

Reducing unhealthy carbohydrate intake, increase in activity and possibly the use of statins as well, would help reduce the liver function test levels or stop it from progressing.

In terms of carb reduction this means- reducing sodas/ fruit drinks and using water instead, reducing portions of pasta/rice/potatoes/bread, biscuits/sweet or deserts

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
