Suggest Remedies For Dry Cough And Throat Irritation
Question: I have Irritation in my throat since 4-5 years.
I always keep coughing whole day, It is dry cough.
I never smoke in my life.
I done chest x ray and some lung test and blood tests around 1 year ago and consulted in Fortis XXXXXXX OPD and with some other doctors as well, all were saying this is just allergic cough, I should have cetirizine.
But I want to diagnose is permanently. please suggest.

There are ennumerable causes for cough. I want to know few things before I suggest you further.
1.Any nasal blockage or congestion?
2. Heartburn?
3. Frequent regurgitation?
4. Any seasonal or diurnal variation?
5. Frequent throat infection?
6. What medicines have you been taking so far?
7. have u been investigated for tuberculosis?
If possible send me the reports.

[vik]: No, but not sure if it is related to the incident happened in 2010, we had college party and I shouted too much and later my throat got infected and I was unable to speak for 2-3 days, then onwards I have this Chronic cough, I am not sure if we can relate my problem with that incident.

Thanks for the information.
As you are staying an incident..it might be acute laryngitis at that time. You are having cough even after drinking water. Any chronic cough should be investigated.
My advise is you should get a mantoux test for tuberculosis done. Secondly get an endoscopic examination of the throat done to see any laryngeal Pathology. Get a x-ray paranasal sinuses done.
Start taking antacid like omeprazole empty stomach for few days.
take steam inhalation.
Avoid spicy foods and aerated drinks.
Try to avoid sedentary lifestyle. Walk after you have your meals.
Instead of plain cetrizine take a combination of montelukast and cetrizine at bedtime.
