Brief Answer:
Need more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and understand the concern regarding your dark lips and skin tone.

First thing I want to tell you that our skin complexion is genetic and related to mostly hereditary origin,so we can not change our skin complexion completely but YES, up to some extent we can certainly improve it by proper medications and good diet.

Since you have already tried some skin whitening cream so far,so I would like to know some more information from you,

Which cream you have used so far?
Have you used any cream for your dark lips?
Any specific diet change?

I will give my opinion after that.

Awaiting your response.

Brief Answer:
Avoid using Melacare cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you sharing more information.

As I said earlier, complexion of a person can be improved up to some extent, but not much.

Our complexion has two components; constitutive which is predetermined by genetics and racial factors and usually cannot be changed with treatment.

The other component is due to external agents like environmental exposure, sunlight, use of any cosmetics etc. and it is amenable to treatment.

I would advise you to avoid using Melacare cream since it contains ingredients (hydroquinone and mometasone, a steroid) which can damage your skin on long run and regain the darker skin on sudden withdrawal of the cream.

You can get a series of chemical peels for the permanent solution. It actually remove the upper dead layers of skin and stimulate regeneration of collagen and thus newer layers of skin.

For that, many options are available in chemical peels depending on the requirement and skin type like glycolic peel, retinol peel, cocktail peel etc.

Also, chemical peeling can be preceded by a simple procedure called microdermabrasion or commonly known as skin polishing to augment the results. You can consult dermatologist who will further guide you in this regard.

At home you can try using cream containing kojic acid, tetrahydrocurcumin, arbutin etc (like Melaglow cream) over your lips and face for additional benefit.

Always use broad spectrum sunscreen (like LAKME sunscreen) before going out in sun.

Use a plain moisturiser (like cetaphil DAM) on daily basis for healthy and hydrated skin.

Take plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
Yes,use it twice daily.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome again,

Yes,melaglow can be used safely on the lips for a shorter duration like 2-3 months but not more than that as pigmentation of the lips is slightly difficult to treat.Apply it twice daily means in morning and evening.

And hence you should also follow,

1) Apply Sunscreen lotion morning times,
2) Use moisturizing creams in night times on lips.
3) Cap. evion 400 mg daily for 15 days.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip
