Question: 61 year old, male, quadriplegic, 24 years post injury. Im having bouts of constipation, for about 2 weeks. I have none specific pain and skin rashes. This have started after taking Vancomycin IV Antibiotics then Amoxicillin for a chronic UTI. What is the best course of action to get my system work properly again? Can I manage this at home or should I see a doctor? Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Over the counter laxatives should help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. You can take some over the counter laxative like Laxopeg, Miralax or Glycolax (polyethylene glycol 3350) syrup 10-20 ml at dinner (best course of action) and hopefully that will get your system working properly again and in that case you would not need to visit a doctor. It may take a couple of days. If it still does not help, you should consider visiting a doctor.

Be sure to drink plenty of water and to take a fiber rich diet.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
