Question: I went in for a blood test today and the woman had a hard time finding my vein. I just got into the bathtub and there's a pea-sized very hard bump where she was poking with the needle. Plus I have about three inches of bruising. I don't mind that, but is that pea-shaped thing a possible blood clot?

Brief Ans-Yes,Mostly...!!

Hi Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear,Based on the facts of your query, It seems that the pea-sized hard lump at the entry spot of the poking needle,is from Traumatic Blood clot, acting as the vein-seal at the puncture site of the vein.
The 3" bruise you had could be from effused venus blood with edema/induration.
Remedy-
Tab Motrin-400 mg
Thrombophobe oint (heparin sodium) variant locally 2-4 weeks would resolve the issue.
Cold compresses would resolve the bruise fast.
Hope this would help you to plan further treatment and come out of the anxiety you had.
Welcome for any further query in this regard.
