Suggest Remedies For Bruised Hip Post An Injury

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Jun 2016
Question: I was thrown from horse on Saturday. I landed on right hip. Was not able to get up. Ambulance took me to er. They did cat scans. Bruised hip diagnosis. No fracture or anything. Gave me anitinflamatory and muscle relaxer. Pain kept getting more severe. Went to er on Monday night. Another cat scan. Diagnosis bruised hip. They also found "significant layer of blood " my understanding was between soft tissue and bone. Gave me pain med and to keep taking other meds. There was no visible bruising until yesterday. Scheduled to see orthopedist today. Saw assistant. Looked at cat scans. Confirmed bruised hip. Said it could be bone bruise. Refilled medicines. Was told the bruising would work it's way to outside. Not to bear weight on it. Keep it as comfortable as possible. Keep putting ice in it. Said bruising would get worse. Didn't say anything about layer of blood. Told me should be better in 10 days. My question is Should the pain be this severe? I would rank the pain up there with kidney stones. It is excruciating. Take your breath pain. Stinging, burning , ripping, tearing pain. This pain comes and goes in severity. The pain med helps sometimes but when it is it's most severe nothing seems to help. Sitting in a chair, standing, lying down, the pain is still there and at times is the worst pain ever. If I try to reposition the pain is worse. I feel like a baby. Like I should be able to handle this better. Is there anything I can do for it?

Brief Answer:
Bone bruise is extremely painful like that of a fracture

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Usually bone bruise is very very painful and almost feels like the pain accompanying a fractured bone.

It is totally acceptable for you to feel this kind of pain and suffering with bone bruise.

The layer of blood found on the CT Scan is nothing but haematoma. It is harmless blood collection and shall get absorbed in the body in a few weeks after which you shall find relief. Keep applying ice and the limb elevated. Don't put weight on the limb.

You can take Tablet Chymoral fitted which contains Trypsin, Bromelain, Rutoside which are helpful in clearing off swelling and pain after am injury. Take this Tablet thrice a day for 5 days.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
