Suggest Remedies For Bruised Hip Bone Pain Post An Injury

Question: Hi web MD, about two & half weeks ago my 73 year old mother tripped over the water gutter outside & kinda fell on the gutter with her right hip. It was bruised for three to for days.and now she is having a hard time walking and when she rotates a certain way she starts screaming in pain.and when she sits it's hard for her to get up.she got a X-ray about a week ago.the doctor told her nothing was broken they told her it is rematizmo or a arthritis.i told her that maybe her hip bone is bruised or something .she weighs about 150 and all that weight falling on a metal gutter .there is a big dent in the gutter.she tripped and like rolled on her hip on the gutter.she has been taking Tylenol 8 hour muscle & aches.she says it's not helping. And she wants to go back to the doctor to get a M R I . Any help or suggestions would be great .thank u for your time & patience.iam her son XXXXXXX .

I am so sorry to hear about this fall your mom had. I have reviewed this information fully and if the xray couldn't establish a fracture, then for real there is no fracture. an MRI is really over the board if no fracture was seen on an xray. I will recommend that the doctors improve her pain management. Tylenol alone seems largely insufficient. I will recommend that the doctors get her on Vicodin for better pain management. This way, she will not be in pains while healing is on the way following the bruise. For me, good pain management and no need for an MRI at this time.
