Suggest Remedies For A Large Bruise Behind The Knee

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jul 2016
Question: I went hiking a very large mountain over memorial day weekend. While there, I noticed I got a bruise on the back inside part of my knee (just below the back of the knee) I don't recall ever hitting it on anything and the bruise is pretty large. The bruise is starting to disappear, but there is still a lump inside the bruised area that feels a little bit bigger than a pea. I'm concerned this could be a blood clot...

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
It probably is blood clot, but obviously this is superficial thrombophlebitis which is benign condition and you don't need to be concerned unless there is leg swelling and progressive pain,in this case you should see doctor and do ultrasound of the leg. Otherwise, you should apply warm compresses, heparin gel and avoid long sitting so try to walk as much as possible. Wish you good health. Regards
