Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am 37 years old. I had my last period 8th of December 2014. My period cycles are between 32-34 days. I did not get the periods yet. I have taken a home pregnancy test on 15th January 2015 and it is negative.

Previously also I have this experience of delayed periods.

Now problem is we have XXXXXXX at home on 26th January for which I need to travel overnight to my native. I am worried if starts at that time.

I wanted to know is there any tablets which help me to start the period immediately.
I have son of 1 year 2 months and I am still feeding him. I want some medicine that do not have impact on feeding.

Regards

Brief Answer:
Progesterone withdrawal tablets are suggested.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Right now it is too late to prepone your periods.
For preponing or delaying your periods, progesterone tablets are used.
They are taken for 5 days , and then, once you stop, you start bleeding within 7 days at the most.
So if you start the tablets even today ( 17th ) you need to continue till the 22nd, and then you can bleed anytime , from the 23rd till the 29th of January, anytime in between.
It is much better to postpone your period.
You can start Progesterone tablets ( Deviry, Meprate,Primolut - N ) from today till the 26th of January.
Once you stop, you will bleed later.
Please let me know your height and weight so that I can guide you regarding the dosage.
You can safely take these tablets when you are breastfeeding.
These tablets are best taken after consulting your gynecologist.
All the best
