Posted on Wed, 2 Dec 2015
Question: I had sex with my fiancee on 2nd november. She took an ipill immediately after intercourse. We want to now switch on regular low hormonal dosage pills. We are getting married on 5th dec. She normally gets her period on 8th day after ipill usage. I have heard of ovaral l. Please suggest me when should we start using it because we want menstruation to start on 22nd dec directly after the nov period which will begin on 10th nov?? We will now have sex not before 5th dec.,

Brief Answer:
from 5th day of period she should take contraceptive.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to HCM,

I can understand your concerns,

As you told that she had i-pill on 2nd.

In my opinion if you do not want her period on 5 th December. She should take tablet regestrone 5mg BD, 5days before her expected date and should continue till date she wants to postpone her period.

And for contraception, she can take tablet ovral-l from the 5th day of her period. In your case, after stopping regestrone, shw will ger period in 2-3 days.so from 5th day of her menses, she should start contraceptive.

Hope it helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.

tablet regestrone will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Sorry for late response.

Ovral-l is a good contraceptive.

But i advise that she should take tablet regestrone 5 days before from her expected date till 21st.

In next cycle, she can start ovral-l from 5th day of her period.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Her period is now on which will get over by 13th november. Can she start taking ovaral l by 1st dec or 5th dec considering the fact that intercourse will now be done directly on 5th dec?

Brief Answer:
Should start from 5th day of her period date.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Sorry for late response.

She has to start ovral-l from 5th day of her period.so she should start it from 15th November.

If she takes after 5th day of her period, it will not be effective in preventing pregnancy.

Hope it helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.
