Suggest Medication For Severe Sinus Blockage

Question: Hello,
I am male 53 years old and have chronic polyps in my nose. 9 years ago I had 2 operations on my LH sinus to remove the polyps and make a hole for better passage. Since 1 year my RH sinus has been totally blocked and I went back to my specialist. He gave me normal sea wash spray and FLUTICASONE spray 2 times per day.
My situation is improved by RH smell is at 20% and LH is at 80%.
My question is: Are there better more stronger sprays to use? Do you recommend me to have another operation?

1. Budesonide and Beclomethasone stronger steroid sprays than fluticasone, if they are available.

2. A short course of oral steroids, if not contraindicated, always helps (under antibiotic cover).

3. Hypertonic (2 or 3 %) saline nasal washes should be tried.

4. Upload recent CT images for an accurate assessment regarding surgery.

Thanks for your response.
I have never has a scan for my condition, only my specialist looks into my sinus via a light and wire.
3 years ago I did have steroids but have not received any since then - it did make a big difference and unblocked the RH side.
Regarding the 2 steroid sprays - are these normal for use in Europe but under doctors signature or available via pharmacy?
Will these steroids have the possibility to reduce these polyps totally? how long would you anticipate?

1. You should get a Sinus CT done, It is the gold standard investigation for the nose and sinuses.

2. Steroids are known to melt away bilateral ethmoidal polyps. They do, however, recur.

3. The nasal sprays will require a prescription.

4. The polyps regress, sometimes almost completely, but are prone to recurrence.
