Question: I have been diagnose as having a mental breakdown 3 years ago. I took medication for a few months and them just medication for panic attacks as needed. my emotional state is much better but I am having problems with concentration. there is no multitasking anymore. I have to focus on one thing at a time. If I interrupt my task and come back to it I am lost. This is causing problems at work and double or triple the work load for me because I am having to recheck my work. I am lost!

Brief Answer:
Provigil can be used

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Past history of mental breakdown, use of anti anxiety medications and panic attacks indicates the Provigil can be used to restore attention an concentration. It is important to state that behavioral techniques have much better role but in case they fail to deliver to the expected level provigil is a medication which is useful.

In such cases I often prescribe 100-200 mg depending on the individual and often get good results in terms of enhanced attention and concentration.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Is this something I will have from now on and would a therapy be more beneficial for the long term?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

As suggested above the therapy is the ain course of action and should be preferred over medication.

However for the acute management before therapy works/available the medication can be considered to improve functioning.

I hope this helps you further.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
